The Mimosa Ensemble was formed at MusicWorks in the summer of 2002 and worked on Schoenberg’s early masterpiece, Verklaerte Nacht, on the course a year later. Such was their fascination with this work that they went on to make their own translation of the Richard Dehmel poem on which the work is based and to produce paintings based on the piece (both included with this CD).
The group went on to play concerts together in several music societies and to promote their own concerts so it seemed obvious that they should have the chance to record the work and James Boyd produced and recorded the first MusicWorks recordings in 2004. Ten years later, all these musicians continue to be friends and to work together in different ensembles.
